Description
About This Book:
"Consensus of Islamic Jurists" is the English translation of Imam Muhammad b. Ibrahim al-Mundhir's Arabic work "al-Ijma'". This publication is notable for its emphasis on Islamic jurisprudence issues on which scholars attained unanimity. The translator has annotated the text, offering helpful insights for anyone who wants to go deeper into the subject. Imam Mundhir's deep mastery of fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and usul al-fiqh (jurisprudential principles) enabled him to construct "al-Ijma'," a work that serves as a complete reference on topics where the Islamic community reached an accord
Readers who are conversant with the subject will identify "al-Ijma'" as the canonical book in its field. In his acclaimed book "al-Mughni," Ibn Qudamah regularly refers to "al-Ijma'" and other works by Ibn Mundhir. Furthermore, Imam al-Nawawi complimented Ibn Mundhir's contributions in "al-Majmu'," adding that every citation from "al-Ijma'" symbolizes brilliance in the realm of Islamic law.
He finally moved in Makkah and was appointed Shaykh of the Haram (Holy Sanctuary). He died there about the year 318 AH. Scholars have praised him, with Adh-Dhahabi calling him as "the unique scholar of hadith and jurisprudence" and "the Shaykh of the Haram" who wrote outstanding works competence extended to discerning genuine hadiths from falsified hadiths, putting him at the apex of Islamic study in this regard.
