About The Author:
As the neighborhood attendant (qayyim) of the al-Jawziyya school, Imam Ibnul Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah obtained his early education from his father. The leading thinkers and masters of his time then guided him as he pursued his quest for knowledge. He studied a number of subjects, including theology, Islamic law, and the science of prophetic traditions (Hadith). When Imam Ibnul Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah joined the study group of Imam Ibn Taimiyyah, a renowned scholar of the day, it was one of the turning points in his life. Imam Ibnul Qayyim developed a close relationship with his instructor and became utterly devoted to him. He developed into Imam Ibn Taimiyyah's closest pupil and follower, gaining his wisdom and transmitting his teachings.
